According to Music Row, country album sales were down 20.5% year-over-year in January 2009. That's considerably worse than the 12% drop for total album sales but not as bad as the 24% decline for country albums in all of 2008.

Digital accounted for 12.7% of country album sales, up from 7.4% in January 2008. (Digital album sales for all genres accounted for 15.35% of all album sales in 2008.) It's an improvement, but 12.7% puts country fans somewhere in the late adopter to slowpoke categories of innovation adoption.
