Word is out this morning that the boards of Live Nation and Ticketmaster approved a merger two days ago. Many reports claim negotiations were not done Sunday evening, but the USA Today has a source that said the two boards voted unanimously for the merger.

The Wall Street Journal's Ethan Smith reports that Live Nation's Michael Rapino will be CEO of the new combined company, Live Nation Entertainment. Irving Azoff will be executive chairman and will retain control of Front Line Management. Barry Diller, chairman of former Ticketmaster parent IAC, will be nonexecutive chairman.
