President-elect Obama has appointed Julius Genachowski as the next Chairman of the FCC. Given the influence and power of the FCC in shaping media and communications, it's appropriate to spend a bit of time getting to know him. Here are some helpful links, take your pick.

mocoNews: His positions on net neutrality (he's for it), DTV (the guess is he will support a delay of its launch) and wireless.
Ars Technica: He's not as consolidation-friendly as the current FCC.
Obama's Technology and Innovation Plan, for which he was the chair of the developing committee.

Updated: Today's Wall Street Journal has a preview of the Genachowski era. "Industry and consumer groups were quick to praise Mr. Obama's choice Tuesday. The National Association of Broadcasters, which sparred with Mr. Genachowski during his FCC days, called him a 'superb' choice, for example. Verizon Communications Inc. called his selection 'a great boost for the nation's drive to be the world leader in all things broadband.'"
