Virgin Megastore proclaimed 2007 was "one of the most successful years the U.S. chain of stores have ever had." Same-store sales were up 11.5% and New York City stores were up over 10%. The chain attributed the turnaround to a shift in product offering and a revamped marketing strategy. Video game sales were up 93.9%, DVD sales were up 13.9%, fashion sales rose 35.5%, and book sales increase 19%. A new survey found that 72% of Americans listen to as much or more radio than they did five years ago. Seventy-four percent of those surveyed still usually turn on the radio when they get in the car. (Radio Ink)
