• Apple is reportedly in talks with major music companies to offer free, unlimited access to iTunes in return for a premium paid on iPod and iTouch devices. While Nokia is said to have offered $80 per device to labels for its "Comes With Music" program, Apple has offered only $20. (Financial Times)

• Warner Music Group has re-upped Lyor Cohen through March 15, 2013 and has given him the new title Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Recorded Music – North America. (SEC filing)

• An overview of what's going on with venues in Las Vegas. AEG is busy: it's adding a 750-2,000 seat music space at the Echelon Place, plans to book a remodeled The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and will host shows at the new 22,000-seat arena near Harrah's hotel. (Venues Today)
