Billboard.biz recapped the 2007 sales figures. Here's a brief rundown, and here's a link to the article with more details.

Album sales fell 14.9% to 500 million units from 542.4 million units. CD sales dropped 18.8% to 449.2 million from 553.4 million units. Digital album sales rose 10% to 50 million units.

Digital track sales increased 45% to 844.1 million from 582 million. Track equivalent albums -- albums plus digital tracks -- dropped 9.5%.

Universal Music Group's 31.9% (a slight drop from 31.6%) share put it at the top, followed by Sony BMG at 25% (a drop from 27.4%), Warner Music Group at 20.3% (an increase from 18.1%) and EMI at 9.4% (down from 10.2%).

A few genre album sales figures from The Tennessean: Country sales dropped 16.3%, Christian/gospel sales dropped 14.3%, R&B dropped 18.3% and rap sank 30%.
