Let the bundling begin. Prince made headlines when he bundled CDs and concert tickets. Now, in what Billboard.biz calls a first, Bon Jovi is bundling digital copies of his album Lost Highway with pre-sale tickets for the group's upcoming show in New Jersey. Consumers who have already purchased the album through the band's website or iTunes can get a passcode for $10 less than the bundle.

The main thing about this bundle is that consumers cannot opt out. If you buy the ticket, you're buying the digital album (unless you don't redeem the code). It makes perfect sense to upsell music in this way. Ticket prices are going higher while album prices are flat. The cost of an album is a lot more digestible when its lumped in with a far more expensive ticket.

Specifics on the package are at this Ticketmaster page and at Bon Jovi's website.
