MySpace Pimpin': The Future of Marketing Is Here
On more than one occasion Coolfer, and I'm sure millions of others, has received a MySpace bulletin message from a band that recommends that new album of another band. This one, pictured, is from The Flaming Lips (or the band's manager, or webmaster) that endorses the new album by Starlight Mints that was released yesterday on Barsuk.
In a moment of conspiracy theory, Coolfer thought World's Fair, which manages The Flaming Lips, might also handle marketing for Starlight Mints. Doesn't seem to be the case after looking at the World's Fair website. And that's a good thing, because a MySpace recommendation such as this shouldn't be bartered and shouldn't be taken lightly.
Well, that is until Coolfer gets a few of them a day for a few months. Then they'll be not only taken lightly, they'll be completely ignored.
