IMG_0681.JPG• Poor Lady Sovereign. First she slowly walks onto the Knitting Factory stage and tells the crowd that she's been vomiting all evening but is there for the show and will give it her best shot. She did great under the circumstances -- she was obviously tired and weak. Then there enough equipment failures to last a month. Her first New York gig was good enough to sate the thirst of her many rabid fans who pressed close to the stage. The next is sure to be better. Coolfer has some fairly horrid pictures at the Coolfer Flickr page.

• Note to music bloggers: This is what you get when you change domains. That's the old domain. Here's the new one.

• One thing I admire about Kalefa Sanneh of the NY Times is the guy can write about urban music and turn around and do an article or two about country music. That's range. Today's article is "Words of Wisdom Delivered Twangily." It seems country singer are moonlighting as counselers. Hmm. I guess I'd have to listen to know. That's why Mr. Sanneh is around. He listens to country music so I don't have to.

Napster's paid downloads aren't so popular with University of Rochester students. Not a surprise. It's not a blow to DRM. Cheapskate college students would walk ten miles through snow and wind for free music.

Russel Simmons denies Phat Farm was in contention for McDonalds uniform redesign. Then there were some comments about animals, and a plug for his upcoming guest role in "The L Word."

• Funny. "Sony Wants Bite Out Of Apple iPod," reads the CNN.com headline. So obvious. But there's a hint of promise. The article reports that Sony has been biting into Apple's market share in Japan.
